Los Angeles Prop House Community Says Farewell to Christine Bush Selover at Descanso Gardens Last Sunday

When Dan Selover opened Air Designs in 2000 to be a full time Prop House in Pacoima he convinced his wife Christine to leave Independent Studio Services to handle the accounting for the company. It wouldn’t be very long until their two sons, Blake and Bevan, joined to make the business a family affair.

Christine Selover

Known to many as the rock of the Selover family (and the whole team at AIR Designs) Christine will be truly missed. This last Sunday an intimate family and friends memorial service was held at the beautiful Descanso Gardens. Many came and spoke about their memories of Christine and everyone had an opportunity to enjoy a slideshow of some of her best photos with many. Attendees were also given an opportunity to view some of her best needlepoint, a skill she had perfected over her lifetime.

Christine is survived by her two sons, Bevan and Blake, and her beautiful grandchildren.

The family has asked that any donations in the deceased’s name be made to:

Dr. Susan Love Research Foundation

TV Academy Xmas Party

2Q==-79It’s a Ho Ho Ho Season of Cheer at the Academy of Television Arts & Sciences. They had there annual Holiday party the other night.

A combined affair; Art Directors, Set Decorators , Cinematographers, and the Costume Design & Supervision Peer Group joined together to enjoy food and drinks.9k=-73

It was nice to see so many vendors dressed in party attire and relaxed. Blake Selover from AIR Designs was there with his wife (see picture to the right).

Mary Ann Biddle from Apropos Interiors, Fred and the gang from Linoleum City, and even Pam & Jim from History for Hire.

The toy donations this year were in honor of Leslie Frankenheimer (the prominent set decorator) and will benefit the children at the Grossman Burn Center.

AIR Designs

It was a small building in Pacoima hidden behind an iron gate where I found Dan Selover working in his warehouse full of automotive dressing. Dan was a hands-on kind of guy who could build anything. He had made a career building Porsche race cars and had a diner he had built and dressed with memorabilia including a soda fountain that took you back in time to the ’50s. That was in 2000.

By 2002, Dan had the prop house bug, and he started expanding. In 2006, after buying what was formerly Al’s Studio Rentals, Dan relocated his inventory to a 55,000-sq. ft. warehouse in Sun Valley, and the rest is history.

Dan passed away in 2010 while working on his movie ranch, but Air Design continues to grow with his sons, Blake and Bevan, at the helm. If you are in need of items to dress a bakery, airport, auto shop, warehouse, parks, diners, coffee shop, and so much more then you need to stop by to see what they offer.
