License to Find: A Debbies Book Tale Press Release

Production on License to Find: A Debbies Book Tale will begin in June with Alan Smithee directing Faye Kinget as the lead of the film. Direct to Ree Productions and Relatively Media have reached an agreement with Alsoran Studios to partner on the worldwide streaming release of the film.

Directory lead and relations manager Debbie (Faye Kinget) has been searching her whole life for a rumored prop dating back to the creation of the color television. Joining an expedition led by fellow directory lead and Debbies Book CEO Lulu Payne (Sue Dunham), Debbie finds a locked warehouse in Mid-City that contains a clue linking the prop to a popular television series that was recently cancelled. But when Lulu is distracted by a squirrel to chase, Debbie has to race to get to the prop house on her own before production finalizes their budget.

Faye Kinget will be playing the role of Debbie alongside Sue Dunham as Lulu Payne and a brief appearance by Joe King as Bryce. Director Alan Smithee (The Birds II: Land’s End, Hellraiser: Bloodline) will direct from an original screenplay by Golden Sticker Recipient (The Land Before Time: Rain of Fire) Gogh Withet with production set to begin on June 25, 2019. Relatively Media will release the film theatrically in the US on November 21, 2020 through its new joint venture for domestic theatrical distribution with Annakarenina Pictures, and Alsoran Studios will release streaming internationally commencing with an earlier release in Bulgaria on November 7, 2020.

Producers Cart Befferörs and Pat Kallinkettle-Black commented, “We are delighted to announce the first installment of the Debbies Book franchise. We will begin shooting at whatever studio is cheapest in June.”

“Under the leadership of Cart and Pat, we couldn’t be more thrilled to bring the first Debbies Book adventure in propping to the big screen uniting the incomparable Faye Kinget with the extraordinary vision of Alan Smithee,” said Relatively Media’s Chairman of the Board of Directors, Candice B. Fureal. Relatively Media’s President, Motion Picture Division Shirley Knot added, “It has been 16 years since the cult classic Debbies Book: Listing Away was distributed by Relatively Media and it’s incredibly gratifying to be releasing this film alongside the powerhouse team at Alsoran Studios.”

Debbies Book CEO Subpoenaed by Mueller’s Team

Ruby Payne at a political fundraising event in March 2017.

Los Angeles – The FBI this week detained and questioned Ruby Payne, CEO of Debbies Book – a valuable resource for finding props, especially in the Greater Los Angeles area.

Payne issued a written statement saying she was detained by the FBI on Sunday after she arrived at a dog park on her way home from a walk. Federal investigators took her cell phone and purse, then questioned her about where to find sci-fi and futuristic items as well as western themed props. Debbies Book is known for helping people find these kinds of items and more for film and television. Ruby says she was then served a subpoena before being released to appear before Muellers nephews birthday event coordinators, which she is expected to do next month. The birthday party itself will occur in May.

“The questions got more detailed about the types of items they were looking for (which they were hoping would be free or at least cheap since the birthday was a non-union “low-budg” affair); what prop houses carry what items; whom I knew and how well – they had a long wishlist of items,” Payne said. “They seemed to then focus more attention on larger scale event rentals (of whom I have plenty of recommendations too); multiples of cabanas and steampunk themed event chairs. Then they brought up something about Russians, which I knew nothing about.”

She said she was asked specifically if she had visited all of the larger resources in her database, verifying the inventories of these so-called prop houses. She had, she said. Payne’s statement shines a spotlight into the workings of Mueller’s nephews birthday party, of which the public up until now knew very little about.

The birthday event council declined to comment.

Debbies Book has long been a resource for finding props and services for the film and television industries, not just for the nephews of special investigation teams formed by the FBI.

Debbies Book Announces New ‘Left in the Dust’ Campaign

LOS ANGELES – April 1, 2017 – Debbies Book, Inc. today announced the all-new Debbies Book campaign ‘Left in the Dust’, bringing a revolutionary experience to those with non-dominant right hands. The campaign includes an updated printed book experience which will let you choose what hand you hold the book in as well as which hand can turn the pages. The new book also features inspirational quotes to the reader such as, “Everyone else may think they’re right, but you’re left with the real answers.”

The new Debbies Book App (available here) also dramatically simplifies how you select, scroll and navigate through your favorite prop related categories while your device is being held in the left hand.

“There has been so much innovation in the entertainment and event rental industries, we want to bring that same excitement and access to Lefties,” said Ruby Payne, Debbies Book’s C.E.O. and board chairman. “Righties have had their hands in everything prop since the first rent-able wooden club to the latest futuristic alien flight consoles that you see in some prop houses.”

The move to include Lefties isn’t entirely selfless, however. Adding accessibility to Lefties will also expand the reach of Debbies Book by almost 10%. “I understand that when one hand washes the other success can often be achieved more easily. I just wonder how the dynamic of the Entertainment and Event Industries will be affected by allowing access to that many more people,” says George P. Hagopian, founder of the organization Right’s Rights for Right Now. “I haven’t actually worked in the entertainment industry at all. I just think adapting your platform to only access 10% more people seems a little heavy-handed.”

Pricing & Availability
As has always been the case, the website and apps for Debbies Book, Inc will be accessible to everyone for free. A downloadable version of the printed book is also available for free from their website at their Get the Book page. The actual book itself is still listed on Amazon for $40. As part of the ‘Left in the Dust’ campaign, 10% of the proceeds made from the revamped ambidextrous printed edition of Debbies Book will be given to Hands Over Fists, a nonprofit that funds outreach activities that promote public awareness and normalization of those born with a right hand that is less dominant than their left.

Created in 1978, Debbies Book is the respected art department resource for the niche industries of both entertainment and event creative professionals. Many of the listed companies are owned by individuals who can’t bring themselves to ever have a garage sale and therefore have an absurd amount of items available for rent.

Oprah Winfrey Announces ‘Debbies Book – 28th Edition’ As New Pick for Oprah’s Book Club

OprahBookDB“I have never read a book like this before,” Oprah says about The 28th Edition of Debbies Book, the entertainment and event industries’ most recent publication of rental and purchase resources.

In the April issue of O, the Oprah Magazine, Oprah describes the latest installment of the directory as “incredibly helpful in finding those difficult items, and perfect for newcomers to the Los Angeles area,” and recounts her first time reading the latest edition.

“I was on the couch and wondering where on earth I was going to find a chastity belt rental and a fortune-teller machine. I was calling everyone I could think of when it occurred to me, I have the most recent edition of Debbies Book. I had to use it. One of my deepest pleasures in life is knowing there are more resources out there than I could possibly remember. I started reading through the whole directory, page by page. So when I got to the last 100 pages, I slowed down, taking a break every 20 pages or so to savor; lingering over sentences like ‘Steam punk, Victorian copper and brass rolling control panels, consoles with gauges, levers and hand controls.’ By midafternoon I was done. Too soon.

When I found out that Debbies Book is almost 40 years old, I thought, Wow. This directory has almost everything. There’s no other explanation for such a vivid, searing resource directory that penetrates through the page to the reader’s last minute rental needs. No question about it. I couldn’t wait to announce The 28th Edition of Debbies Book as my latest Oprah’s Book Club (OBC) pick.”

New Debbies Book in the Works

2Q==-59Rumor has it there is a new Debbies Book coming out, codenamed ”Debbies Book: The Movie”, and it’s coming to a theater near you this summer.

Full of strange creatures & objects, wild individuals who have mind-boggling talent, extraordinary effects, animals, vehicles that climb mountains only to immediately fly into space… and that is only in the first 2 minutes.

Without spoiling the movie too much let’s just say that there is a beginning, middle and end, a twist before the end, a minor twist before the twist before the end, and a post-credits scene that will blow the minds of the audience.

Expected to be a trilogy of trilogies (3 movies for each of the three parts) the overarching storyline follows a user as they traverse the darker reaches of those hard-to-find-props. Some must be manufactured or replicated, others simply rented (there are even some multiples requirements) as the production the user is working on comes to completion in an epic final trilogy.

Expected to be best experienced in 3D, you can get a free ticket voucher for this upcoming movie event only today by calling or emailing us.

You can also get in on the experience early by downloading the Debbies Book App!
