It goes without saying we all need to clean as much as possible on and around ourselves to help mitigate the spread of COVID-19 as it continues to move through our communities.

Since it is leading to public event closures and work stays (many productions are being suspended), we decided it may help to have some resources collected in one place.

Unemployment

Contract workers have some restrictions that should be dealt with on a case by case basis but there is the potential EDD is available for you. This is especially true if you are paid through W-2s.

You can apply for unemployment in California here.

Just make sure you fill out the information to the best of your ability. Though the lines are sure to be busy you can also call them to clarify questions and avoid delays:

If you are being laid off of a project, or even it it’s simply been delayed, accessing unemployment sooner rather than later is recommended. It takes time to complete the paperwork and be reviewed.
