Debbies Book Announces New ‘Left in the Dust’ Campaign

LOS ANGELES – April 1, 2017 – Debbies Book, Inc. today announced the all-new Debbies Book campaign ‘Left in the Dust’, bringing a revolutionary experience to those with non-dominant right hands. The campaign includes an updated printed book experience which will let you choose what hand you hold the book in as well as which hand can turn the pages. The new book also features inspirational quotes to the reader such as, “Everyone else may think they’re right, but you’re left with the real answers.”

The new Debbies Book App (available here) also dramatically simplifies how you select, scroll and navigate through your favorite prop related categories while your device is being held in the left hand.

“There has been so much innovation in the entertainment and event rental industries, we want to bring that same excitement and access to Lefties,” said Ruby Payne, Debbies Book’s C.E.O. and board chairman. “Righties have had their hands in everything prop since the first rent-able wooden club to the latest futuristic alien flight consoles that you see in some prop houses.”

The move to include Lefties isn’t entirely selfless, however. Adding accessibility to Lefties will also expand the reach of Debbies Book by almost 10%. “I understand that when one hand washes the other success can often be achieved more easily. I just wonder how the dynamic of the Entertainment and Event Industries will be affected by allowing access to that many more people,” says George P. Hagopian, founder of the organization Right’s Rights for Right Now. “I haven’t actually worked in the entertainment industry at all. I just think adapting your platform to only access 10% more people seems a little heavy-handed.”

Pricing & Availability
As has always been the case, the website and apps for Debbies Book, Inc will be accessible to everyone for free. A downloadable version of the printed book is also available for free from their website at their Get the Book page. The actual book itself is still listed on Amazon for $40. As part of the ‘Left in the Dust’ campaign, 10% of the proceeds made from the revamped ambidextrous printed edition of Debbies Book will be given to Hands Over Fists, a nonprofit that funds outreach activities that promote public awareness and normalization of those born with a right hand that is less dominant than their left.

Created in 1978, Debbies Book is the respected art department resource for the niche industries of both entertainment and event creative professionals. Many of the listed companies are owned by individuals who can’t bring themselves to ever have a garage sale and therefore have an absurd amount of items available for rent.
